HERStory | Meet the Artisan Anusha
What made you start your business?
Thulisa, pronounced 'two-lee-sa' is of Zulu origin and it means 'bringer of peace. After having my children, the desire to use natural products was second only to my need to create a space for myself where I could uplift my mood, experience peace, and enjoy a moment of time alone. Every night I would retreat into my sanctuary (my bathroom), where I could physically and emotionally prepare myself for the next day. This nightly ritual became one that was a healing part of my post-partum journey. I realized I wanted to provide the same opportunity to other women and mothers who need to infuse some peace and calm into their day. I am now able to do this by creating all-natural bath and body products that are handmade with care and nutrient-rich ingredients. We donate a portion of our sales to provide nutritious meals to vulnerable children living in South Africa.
What is the inspiration behind your brand’s products?
Women are busy and are often taking care of others. I wanted to create products with body and mind benefits that would enable women to take care of themselves with little time and effort.
What’s ahead for Thulisa Naturals?
Continued growth and giving back, educating and encouraging women to practice self-care.
