HERStory | Meet the Artisan Alyssa

What made you start your business?
In 2012 I began creating aromatherapy blends for my massage therapy clients and saw significant improvement to their well-being. That led me to pursue advanced Aromatherapy certification before creating a line of easy-to-use essential oil blends that are both deliciously fragrant and deeply nourishing. Each oil is blended by hand in small batches using a synergy of high-quality therapeutic grade oils and healing Reiki energy to harmonize the mind, body, and spirit.

What is the inspiration behind your brand’s products?
Much of what I create is intuitive. I also love connecting with nature and experimenting with different herbs and scents. Instagram is where I go to connect with other artists – I love following potters, illustrators, clothing makers, and metal workers.

What’s ahead for Open Heart Apothecary?  
Continuing to branch out to be in more stores around the US and internationally as well. Eventually I’d love to have a retreat center where people can come to learn how to cook with healing herbs, practice yoga, and experience crystal healing.
